2022 Sydney Track Classic / NSW 60m Championships – SOPAC; 12 Mar 2022
After a severe storm caused the abandonment of the Illawarra Track Classic in Wollongong in January, the finals of the NSW 60m Championships were rescheduled to take place as part of the Sydney Track Classic Pre-Meet program.
As a finalist in Wollongong, Andres was invited to run in the U16 Mens 60m Championship final – and was the only U15 running, and he is still only 13 years old!
Andres had a great run to come 4th, he had the best start but was unable to keep up with the older boys. His time was another PB, and although it was illegal wind (+2.4), so won’t officially count in the national rankings – the time is still the fastest run by any U15 boy so far this year in Australia.
After the race, we were able to hang around and enjoy the on-track action at the Sydney Track Classic, with Andres able to meet some of the best athletes in Australia right now.
