Men U14 4x100m relay
The NSW team got together for the first time only 2 hours before the relay to practice their baton passes – but a well executed race saw them take the gold medal. It helped that all four runners were finalists in the 100m sprint – it was a very well balanced team and they gave 4th runner Max enough of a lead to hold off a very fast finishing Josh Lobo from ACT who dominated in the 100m and 200m sprints.
Team members: Tahj Hamilton; Yahya Ali; Andres Hampel; Max Marshall; (Dane Stewart and Xavier Perry reserves)
Straight final | 48.36 | Gold medal & National Champions |

Men U14 200m sprint
Andres ran a good PB in the heat but was unfortunately placed in the fast heat and so despite being 8th fastest, he missed the final. Running in the first heat would have seen him easily automatically qualify. Such is the breaks in athletics sometimes.
Heat | 25.67 (+2.6); PB | 8th fastest, but did not qualify for the final (9th place overall) |
