Andres had a really difficult season in U11, with the change in age groups throwing him a bit – he was no longer with most of his friends that he has been with since U6 and had gone from one of the oldest in his age group to being one of the youngest.
He also suffered from injury problems, plus his Sever’s was playing up for most of the season – causing him quite a bit of pain when running.
His fall in the 60m hurdles heat at Zone in December was heartbreaking given he had worked so hard in his training up until that point and was showing great speed and vastly improved technique over the higher hurdles. To not get the opportunity to test his ability at the Region or State Championships was very disappointing.
He made it to Region for 100m, 200m and Long Jump, but failed to progress to State.
Andres did come third at the NSLAC multi-event day, but did not receive any awards at the end of season presentation day.
