Campbelltown High Velocity Meet #3 – Campbelltown Athletics Centre; 25 Mar 2023
Andres represented UTS Norths in the 100m sprint and 100m hurdles.
After missing quite a bit of training and several comps due to injury, this would be Andres’s first chace to run 84cm hurdles since Canberra in January, and his last chance before Nationals in Brisbane in April. His goal wasn’t to run especially fast times – just to get some race practice. We felt this was especially important given the last few competitions Andres has run in were for Little Athletics – which use the lightweight 76cm hurdles rather than the heavy 84cm hurdles for ANSW/AA competition.
Open Men 100m sprint
The focus from the sprint was to try and run relaxed but fast – not aiming for a PB or anything. His time of 11.55 was not that far off his PB, and was faster than he ran the previous weekend at Little Athletics State Championships, so he was satisfied with the run.
Section 5 | 11.55 (+0.8) | 39th overall |
U16 Men 100m hurdles 84cm
Having run only 76cm hurdles for the past couple of competitions, this was an important run for Andres to re-acclimatise himself to the higher and heavier 84cm hurdles. He was a bit nervous going over them, so wasn’t as snappy as he would have liked – floating a little too much over the hurdles, but the time was still decent and a good run for the first time in 2 months.
Final | 13.65 (+0.6) | 2nd place |
